11894687 tonnes paddy procured in Punjab

Chandigarh, November 11, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 11894687 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.
Out of total procurement of 11894687 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 11297527 tonnes of paddy (95.0%) till date whereas private traders procured 597160 tonnes (5.0%) of paddy. Till November 10, PUNGRAIN had procured 3430301tonnes (30.4%) whereas MARKFED procured 2641562 tonnes (23.4%). PUNSUP procured 2533496 tonnes (22.4%), PSWC procured 1108967 tonnes (9.8%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 1148524 tonnes (10.2%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 434677 tonnes (3.8%).
The spokesperson added that District Sangrur with 1430248 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ludhiana with 1362408 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Patiala 1177290 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
