Four laning of Ropar-Nawan Shahar-Banga-Phagwara road approved

Chandigarh, October 16, 2013: The Punjab government has approved the 4 laning of Ropar-Nawan Shahar-Banga-Phagwara Road. This project would be completed with the estimated cost of Rs 1500 crore.
Disclosing this here today, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, PWD Minister, Punjab said that the Government has given its nod to Ropar-Nawan Shahar-Banga-Phagwara Road. The tendering process would be completed uptill December, 2013. He said that the construction on this ambitious project would be started soon and the whole work would be completed by October, 2016. He said that with the completion of this project would work for the proliferation of trade and industry besides improving the life style of the citizen of the neighboring area.  
The Minister informed that four major four lane projects are also under construction in the state including 55 kilometer long Ropar-Chamkaur Sahib-Neelon-Doraha (along Sirhind Canal), 30 kilometer long Morinda-Kurali-Siswan-Baddi(upto State Border), 30 kilometer long Kot Kapura-Sri Muktsar Sahib and 36 kilometer long Batala-Mehta-Beas. He said that the Punjab Government has earmarked Rs. 454 crore for all these four major road projects.
Dhillon said that SAD-BJP government in its previous tenure has incurred Rs. 624 crore for the up gradation of various road projects with the total length of 520.44 km. divulging the detail of these projects, he said that the roads Patiala-Patran, Balachaur-Dasuya, Hoshoarpur-Tanda, Kiratpur Sahib-Una, Moga-Kotakpura, Firozepur-Fazilka, Dakhan-Raikot-Barnala, Bhwanigarh-Nabha-Gobindgarh and Patiala-Malerkotla have been widened. www.cityairnews.com
