CELEBRATION OF 'MAHILA
KISAN DIVAS' AT KVK, S.B.S. NAGAR
On 15th October,
2017, Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Shaheed Bhagat Singh
Nagar Celebrated “Mahila Kisan Divas” among rural
women and adolescents. about 50 women were participated in this programme. Dr.
Shikha Bathla, Assistant Professor (Home Science) welcomed the participants and
explained the role of women from inside home to out side work place since ages
to recent era i.e. in the field of agriculture, dairy farming, bee keeping,
mushroom cultivation, interior decoration, fashion designing, food
preservation, co-opereate world & politics etc. Mrs Renu Bala (Demonstrator)
encouraged the women to become independent to improve the standard of living
for all members of family. S. Mohinder Singh Dosanjh (Progressive farmer)
encouraged the rural women to become independent and participate more in
trainings organized by KVK. Dr. Jugraj Singh Marok, (Deputy Director)
emphasized that KVK imparts these sort of trainings among all the blocks of SBS
district for self employment.
Smt. Khushkismat
kaur (President, Sukhmani SHG ) from village Bhaghouran, Smt. sarabjit kaur
(Aaganwadi worker ) from adopted village Sanawa, Smt.Kulwinder kaur (President,
Dr. Amedkar SHG ) from adopted village Sanawa Smt. Aradahana & Paramjit
(Baba Srichand SHG ) from adopted village Daultpur were also shared their
experience with other audience.
On this special
occasion, Smt. Khushkismat kaur (President, Sukhmani SHG ) from village
Bhaghouran and Smt. Kulwinder kaur (President, Dr. Amedkar SHG ) from adopted
village Sanawa were also honored for their remarkable contribution in earning
& improving their lifestyle.
KVK, FARIDKOT CELEBRATED MAHILA KISAN DIVAS
KVK, Faridkot celebrated Mahila Kisan
Divas at Village Sukhanwala of Distt. Faridkot on 15.10.2017. Ninety-one farm
women and four farmers participated in the divas. Dr. Jaswinder Kaur Brar,
Prof. (H.Sc) explained the importance of the day and sensitize the women
regarding judicious use of their valuable time. She advised the use of
multi-grains and vegetables in their daily diet. She motivated the women to
grow kitchen garden, for more physical work and by learning skills from KVKs to
start their own enterprise to generate income for family. Demonstration was
given on Ghia Balls and nutritious pinni keeping in
view the Diwali festival and to avoid adulterated sweets. An impressive
exhibition was displayed showing multi-grains (Wheat, rice, bajra, oats,
barley, jawar, maize, Alsi etc.), PAU honey, model of kitchen garden and
preserved products.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar celebrated
Mahila Kisan Divas on October 15, 2017. The programme was celebrated in village
Majri Thakedaran of Ropar District. Approximately 45 rural girls and women were
present on this occasion. Dr. Vipan Kumar Rampal, Deputy Director (Training)
said Mahila Kisan Divas is an appreciable step to encourage women for
entrepreneurship. He said woman can increase her family income by adopting
income generating activities. Dr. Mandeep Sharma, Assistant Professor (Home
Science) said on this occasion that Mahila Kisan Divas was celebrated to
empower women. It is necessary to aware women in the fields of women in
agriculture, income generation, health and nutrition. She said Krishi Vigyan
Kendra, Ropar organizes different vocational training programmes for women.
Women can receive trainings from KVK and start their own small scale
enterprises to boost family income. Easy writing competition on the theme of
income generating activities for women was conducted on this occasion. Debate
was also organized on the theme of women in agriculture. Prizes were given to
the best easy writer and debater. Different handmade articles were exhibited.
