Ludhiana, May 13, 2016: Astronomy is related to the study of Celestial bodies and the World Astronomy Day is observed every year on 14 May to provide an opportunity to the masses to explore the Universe in their own way. We the Humans have always been enchanted and mystified by the beauty of the moon and glory of the sun. We speculate star strewn sky with wonder and fancy their influence on our lives.

Gone are the days when heavenly bodies were something to be terrified. People are no more scared of Shukra, Shani, Rahu or Ketu. The advancement in modern science has brought a sea-change in human perception of the Universe. We now have more precise and specific knowledge about the Universe that is vaster than our imagination. We are humbled by this realization that we are nothing but a tiny speck in this huge expanse; like a grain of sand on the ocean.
To mark the day BCM Senior Secondary School, Sector 32-A, Ludhiana organised a host of activities in the school premises. The students, through activities like Poster making, Collage making, Power Point presentations and speeches, learnt about multiple facets of Universe, the astronomical heritage monuments in India and how astronomy helps in improving quality of resources on Earth.
