During the national finale of the Print Olympiad 2022, Ms. Vishwa Sree K, College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, Chennai is declared as the winner to receive the cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 and the certificate to be the ‘Top Print Student of India’. The Grand National Finale of the Print Olympiad 2022, the First of it’s kind in the world, considered to be the India’s biggest talent hunt in Printing was held during International Conference on Printed Electronics and Smart Packaging at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal, Haryana. The national finals of the 5th edition of Print Olympiad was held in a grand manner in offline mode. The contest was evaluated by a panel of FIVE eminent international judges from Greece, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bhutan and Bangladesh. 

Giving the details of the event, Prof. (Dr) TKS Lakshmi Priya said, Offset Printers Association, Ludhiana (OPA) has been organizing Print Olympiad since 2014. This is the 5th edition and every year the event is organized in association with the universities and institutions of printing in India. The brainchild of Prof Kamal Mohan Chopra, Print Olympiad is now a brand. The novel idea is to first pick the best print student among all the four zones (East, West, North and South) and thereafter during national finale to select the best from these four to be the ‘Top Print Student of India’. 

The regional level competition for each zone, to select ‘top student’ of the region, was held ‘online’ during the past few months. There were two preliminary tests where the registered students were given a set of 50 question with multiple choice answers (MCQ). Later the selected top 3 students of the region participated in the regional finale where these students were given 5 topics one each by different jury members and the students were to speak extemporaneous, for a specific time, on any one of these of their choice. All these competitions were organized on Virtual platform. The four zonal finalists were qualified for the National level finals. 

The contestants were made to speak on a technical topic for 5 minutes, followed by a Q&A. Vishwashree of South Zone made an excellent 5 minute talk and answered to the jury’s questions brilliantly. She became the National winner of the 5th edition Print Olympiad, the biggest talent hunt for printing in India. 

The International Judges who attended the event on person, appreciated the well-structured manner in which the contest was conducted and expressed their desire to send students of their countries also to participate.

Giving details of the competition, Anubhava Shiksharthi, Advisor of the Project said, the Curtain Raiser of the Print Olympiad 2022 was held at on 25th February, 2022 in Virtual mode. Since then 12 competitions of various levels were organize virtually platform and Seven universities/printing institutions and more than 10 eminent printing teachers from various parts of the country were involved to host the 5th edition of Print Olympiad. There were 16 neutral and qualified judges from India and abroad to select the top print student from each region from more than 789 registered students from various institutions across the country.
