Vet Varsity organises IDEATHON-2023 as part of G-20 programme

Ludhiana, July 19, 2023: The College of Animal Biotechnology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized “IDEATHON-2023 on the theme “BIOTECHNOLOGY IN PRECISION LIVESTOCK FARMING” on 17th July 2023. The event was a part of G20 programmes being organized at Varsity. The program was supported by the Indian Society for Veterinary Immunology and Biotechnology and the Start-up Punjab, Govt. of Punjab.

Dr. Yashpal Singh Malik, Dean and Chairperson of the event informed that the IDEATHON-2023 carried three themes viz. Biotechnology in Animal Health, Biotechnology in Animal Production and Waste to Wealth: way through Biotechnology. He emphasized that IDEATHON will provide a platform to the young minds to focus meticulously in the field of biotechnology research. With an overwhelming response across the country the competition was conducted for undergraduate and postgraduate students in two sessions. Students from eight states and from 14 different national and state government institutes of the country registered for the event. Students presented their ideas in three different sub-themes of the event.

Three outstanding ideas from each sub-theme were awarded. The presence of renowned dignitaries like Dr. R.K. Singh, President ISVIB, Shri Deepinder Dhillon from Start-up Punjab made this event more nurturing and memorable. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Guest of the function congratulated the organizing team from the College of Animal Biotechnology for successfully conducting the Ideathon-2023. He emphasized that such programmes will motivate the young talents for start-ups and entrepreneurship. This Ideathone will serve as a unique platform for brilliant minds from diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas, and unleash their creative potential. The ideas generated in Ideathone will go on to inspire ground breaking research, technological advancements , and entrepreneurial ventures in the livestock farming and related industry .  Dr. B.V. Sunil Kumar, Organizing secretary extended concluding remarks for the event. Dr. BBS Dhaliwal, convener of IDEATHON proposed vote of thanks at the valedictory session of the event.
