Universities have a great role to play in unifying society and the nation. Universities must contribute to the cause of sustainability and environmental conservation. This was stated by Vice Chancellor of Bengaluru North University (BNU), Kolar (Karnataka), Prof Niranjana Vanalli speaking as Chief Guest in the workshop on 'Sustainability and Environmental Conservation' organised by University Outreach Programme.

Rohtak, February 19, 2024. Universities have a great role to play in unifying society and the nation. Universities must contribute to the cause of sustainability and environmental conservation. This was stated by Vice Chancellor of Bengaluru North University (BNU), Kolar (Karnataka), Prof Niranjana Vanalli speaking as Chief Guest in the workshop on 'Sustainability and Environmental Conservation' organised by University Outreach Programme.

Prof. Niranjana Vanalli highlighted the Appiko movement in Karnataka where local citizens took part in environmental conservation drive. He said that we must come together to save planet Earth for the sake of younger generations. Prof. Niranjana highlighted the importance of incorporating human factor in development and sustainability.

MDU Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh in his presidential address said that sustainability and environmental conservation is the need of the hour. He said that we must work to stop food wastage and work for waste management. Prof. Rajbir Singh emphasised the importance of physical health, mental health and happiness in the context of sustainable lifestyle.

Registrar, BNU Dr Ashok D.R. in his address said that BNU is looking forward to interactive relationships with MDU, especially in social outreach, academics, research and joint programmes.    

Director, UIET Prof Yudhvir Singh in his address stressed the importance of water conservation drive in his address.

Director, University Outreach Prof. Radhey Shyam delivered the welcome address. He throw light on the various aspects of sustainability. Deputy Director, University Outreach, Dr Ekta Narwal conducted the stage. Deputy Director, Dr K.V. Sheokand expressed the vote of thanks.

In the technical workshops, resource persons Rakesh Ahlawat, Arvin Bhatia, and Dr Surender Singh Yadav throw light on various aspects of flora and fauna sustainability, waste management and environmental conservation.

Notably, 12 students and 2 faculty members of Bengaluru North University are visiting MDU as part of faculty and student exchange programme.

MDU Head of Depts., faculty members, YRC and NSS co-ordinators, program officers, YRC & NSSvolunteers etc. were present on the occasion.
