UHSR to Drive Major Doctor Recruitment, Targeting Vacancies across Haryana — Recruitment process to be completed within six months, says VC Dr Aggarwal

Rohtak, August 21, 2026: In a major move to address the shortage of doctors and faculty in Haryana’s new government medical colleges, the state government has entrusted Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHSR), Rohtak, with the responsibility of conducting regular recruitment to Class-A and Class-B posts.

UHSR will now undertake recruitment not only for its own institutions but also for newly established government medical colleges across the state. The appointments will include professors, associate professors, assistant professors, doctors and other medical and academic posts.

Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal said this while interacting with mediapersons on Friday. He thanked Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Health Minister Aarti Rao for the decision, saying it would give a major boost to medical education and healthcare services in Haryana.

He said regular recruitment through UHSR would be carried out for new government medical colleges, including those at Koriwas, Bhiwani and Jind. The move is expected to address the long-pending shortage of faculty and specialists that has affected teaching as well as patient care.

Dr Aggarwal said UHSR has set a target of completing the entire recruitment process—from advertisement to appointment—within six months. The objective is to ensure that qualified faculty and specialist doctors are available at the new medical colleges without unnecessary delays.

He said the university already has an experienced faculty and a transparent recruitment mechanism, and all appointments would be made strictly on merit. The move, he added, would improve healthcare delivery while creating new employment opportunities for young doctors.

PGIMS Director Dr S.K. Singhal said contractual recruitment had often resulted in doctors leaving jobs within a short period, affecting continuity of services. Regular recruitment through UHSR would provide greater stability and help retain medical professionals in government institutions.

He said a team led by Professor-in-Charge of the Recruitment Branch, Dr Arun, was preparing an online and time-bound recruitment mechanism.

Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal said filling vacant posts in the new medical colleges would strengthen OPD, emergency and specialist services. Patients in rural areas would no longer have to travel to bigger cities even for relatively routine treatment, he said.

He added that the decision would also open up significant employment opportunities for young doctors who have completed their postgraduate degrees.

The Vice Chancellor said that with the support and guidance of the Haryana government, UHSR was committed to making the state a national leader in healthcare services.

DDA Dr Varun Sharma, Public Relations Department In-charge Dr Manjunath, Deputy Registrar Dr Arun, Secretary Sanjeev Kumar and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
