TWO KILLED, two hurt in road accidents

Jalandhar, March 3, 2013: During the past two days two persons were killed and two other persons received serious injuries in two accidents in which four vehicles were involved.

According to the police sources, there was a collision between  tempo Tata 407 and an unidentified vehicle in the revenue estate of Kartarpur, on the Grand Trunk road, in which a victim sitting in the tempo breathed his last on the spot where as a lady resident of Garhshankar and her son received serious injuries.

The mishap occurred when  a Dera Beas bound tempo collided with an unidentified vehicle each other with the result the tempo's body was detached due to impact. The deceased was identified as Rajive Neetu. The victim's body was sent to Civil Hospital, Jalandhar for post mortem examination and the injured Kamlesh and her son Rakesh were also hospitalised.

Kartarpur police registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver  of an unidentified vehicle and combing in search of the culprit.

In another accident, Lakhvinder Singh an employee of the Indian Oil Corporation was killed when the scooter driven by  deceased  along with his wife Baljit Kaur was dashed from behind by the truck on the Jalandhar-Pathankot road near village Raowali on Saturday. The lady was saved with injuries in the accident. The victims were of Ekta Nagar, they were going back to Jalandhar after visiting Tanda.

The driver of the truck ran away from the spot, said SHO, Maqsudan .He said the body of the victim was handed over to the nearest kin of the deceased after its post mortem examination and a cast rash and negligent driving of the truck against the driver was registered at the instance of Baljit Kaur the wife of the deceased.
