Two Day Training program on ECBC code begins
Ludhiana, May 2, 2019: A two day training program on Energy Conservation Building Code 2017 being jointly organized by M/s Punjab Energy Development Agency & The Institution of Engineers (India), Ludhiana Local Chapter was inaugurated today at The Institution of Engineers(India) Dugri Road, Ludhiana. The two day workshop has been organized as per PEDA initiative to promote the knowledge of Energy Conservation Building Code, 2017 which has now become mandatory as per Punjab Government Notification. The program was inaugurated by Sh. Anupam Nanda, Sr. District Manager, PEDA, Ludhiana with Er. R.L.Mahajan, Chairman, IE(I), Ludhiana as Guest of Honor. Welcoming the guests, Ar. Gagandeep Singh, PEDA said that energy conservation was the need of the hour. In his address, Er.R.L.Mahajan who himself is a retired Engineer-in-Chief, erstwhile PSEB said that there was a lot of scope for saving energy in every field and buildings form a major area in this endeavor. Giving details about initiatives of PEDA in promoting energy conservation and use of non conventional energy resources, Sh. Anupam Nanda said that PEDA was going all out to promote the spirit of conservation amongst the masses. He highlighted the growth achieved in area of Solar PV power generation. Thanking the guests for their gracious presence on the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Arvind Dhingra, Executive Member, IE(I) and Executive Director, STEP, GNDEC, Ludhiana said that such initiatives would go a long way in promoting the know how about the codes and their compliance would become a lot more easier. Over 30 participants including architects, builders, students and other professionals are attending the two day event, Today’s master trainer was Ar. Abu Talha, a renowned faculty trainer on ECBC. He gave insights about the compliance procedure for ECBC and then highlighted the importance of proper design of building envelope. In another technical section, he introduced the audience to the lighting controls and the importance of proper lighting. he cited various standards from code for various areas as regards to the lighting requirements. He also gave a energy simulation on ECBC using software which made the task of implementing ECBC look very easy. An exhibition on exhausts was also organized which showcase noise less exahuats, chimney draught fans and channels alongwith exhaust solutions for various areas of the house. In the sessions to be held tomorrow, master trainer, Er. Vevaik Mahajan shall be discussing aspects of HVAC and Electrical Power consumption norms followed by simulation showing the effects in an energy conservation building code compliant building. The participants shall then be administered a test to check their proficiency levels.
