Jalandhar/Kapurthala, August 27, 2023: Currently the biggest challenge for the media is its commercialization and the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Even though journalism has made access from handwritten, then carbon copy to digital transmission, but the purpose of journalism is still the dissemination of the information. The need is to make information accurate and verified information a part of dissemination. This message is from the eminent veteran journalist Baljit Balli, who is the editor of digital media brand  Babushahi.com. He reached the university on the special invitation of the Public Relations Office of I.K.Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU) and met the students of the journalism and mass communication department of the university. While sharing his experiences of different periods of journalism with students, he shared his thoughts about the importance and necessity of journalism. He also explained the practical nuances of the print media subject included in the university's journalism course to the students.

Journalist Balli explained that governments are sources of information, journalism in any age could not be separated from government information, even though the aspects of using or disseminating that information may be different. He also thought about the journalism being done through "Twitter" in the current era of digital journalism. Apart from this, he also shared ideas with the students about the difference between digital journalism and social media journalism. He said that these two subjects are different. Meanwhile, Baljit Balli shed light on the journalism done during the emergency in the country, Operation Blue Star etc.They also gave good answers to the questions asked by the students. He also gave the details of the various media tools he used during his long journey of journalism. On this occasion, his wife Madam Tripta Kandhari, who is running a successful food and life page on social media Facebook, also met & encourage the students.

Journalist Balli also met the Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. Susheel Mittal and Registrar Dr. S.K. Mishra. Among the faculty members of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dr. Ekta Mahajan and Deputy Registrar Public Relations Rajneesh Sharma, Dr. Sarabjit Singh Mann from Language Department warmly welcomed him on his arrival at the campus. On this occasion, the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication Department H.K. Singh, Mangala Sahni and others were present. In the end, they also took a memorable picture with the students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.
