Thai court to rule if PM abused power in transfer order

Bangkok, May 6 (IANS) The Thai Constitutional Court said Tuesday that it would deliver a verdict Wednesday on the allegation that caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had abused power.

Yingluck denied the allegation before the court Tuesday, saying that she did not violate any law or receive any benefit by transferring Thawil Pliensri from the post as secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC) in 2011.

The transfer was ruled unlawful by the Supreme Administrative Court in March, and Thawil has already been reinstated as the NSC chief.

If the court finds her guilty to the charges, she and her cabinet will be removed from office.
