Teachers Day Celebration at Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, September 5, 2015: An impressive Teachers Day program was organized by the English Literary Society on behalf of the PG Department of English, Lyallpur Khalsa College on Friday. In a program featuring wide range of activities, three former Head of Departments of the PG Department of English namely Prof. Iqbal Singh, Prof. Manjit Singh and Prof. VK Midha along with Prof. SS Paul, another former member of the Department graced the occasion as dignitaries. Prof. Kanchan Mehta President English Literary Society welcomed the dignitaries and provided a brief introduction to the program. Speaking on this occasion, Principal Dr. GS Samra and Prof Jasreen Kaur, HOD, PG Department of English also shared their views on the importance of Teachers Day. As a part of the program, two literary contests on Teachers Day were also conducted in which Harpreet Singh, Gurpriya, Sahibzada & Abid took the first three positions in Poetical Recitations while Priyanka, Navkiran and Ankita claimed the same in Speech Competition. A short play was also presented by the students of the department. Prof. Sarita Tewari an eminent member of the department also presented her views on this event. Teachers’ Day was also celebrated by Punjabi and History departments of the college wherein the students expressed their gratitude towards teachers in the form of poems and speeches.
