Ludhiana: The Tata Trusts, in collaboration with medECUBE, a “clinical coordination” service provider, organised a two-day health camp at Gurudwara Rara Sahib on 26th and 27th August. The event was inaugurated by Mr.Lakshman Sethuraman, Head – Cancer Control Initiatives, Tata Trusts. As part of their community service efforts, specialists from many hospitals, including CMC, Fortis, Deep, Mediways and Sohanaetc. screened patients for cancer, joint problems, mental health concerns, and general health issues. This first of a kind camp is the initiative of Gurudwara KaramsarRara Sahib Trust. The management committee and volunteers of Rara Sahib have been relentless in their efforts – from making the space available, to disseminating the information about the camp in villages near and far, and contributing financial and other resources. Sant Baljinder Singh of Rara Sahib Trust noted in his remarks, “Seva, or service, is central to our tenets, and serving the health needs of the community is the greatest seva of all. We are privileged that the Tata Trusts have chosen to launch this admirable initiative at our Gurudwara. We have had tremendous support from the Tata Trusts and their partners at medECUBE over the past weeks in preparing for the camp, organizing the doctors, nurses, support staff and diagnostic facilities. Their enthusiasm and commitment has led to a very successful camp.”
Talking about their community efforts to address healthcare issues, Dr.Dilpreet Brar, Founderand CEOof medECUBEsaid, “The burden of lifestyle diseases in Indiais constantly on the rise, with nearly 6 out of 10 Indians succumbing to non-communicable diseases. Screening, early detection, and understanding of risk factors can mitigate these health issues. With nearly 100,000 devoteesexpected to visit the Gurudwara, the health camp is expected to have far-reaching impact on the community. We are excited to work with the Tata Trusts in helping promote cancer awareness and screening, and ultimately bringing affordable cancer treatment to the masses.”
