Chandigarh, October 4, 2016: Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh today made a surprise visit to the OPD, Emergency block and wards of the PGIMER along with the faculty.
Expressing satisfaction on seeing the wards and floors neat and clean the Administrator appreciated the PGI management for the upkeep. Director PGI apprised the Governor that the institute has received National Award from Hon’ble Prime Minister of India for being the cleanest government hospital in the country for which the Administrator congratulated them.
Shri Badnore also discussed modalities to reduce the patient load on the institute by strengthening tertiary facilities in the region to enable the PGI resources to focus on research and Development. He also visited wards and OPD and took stock of the disposal of patients and referral system.
Shri Badnore also instructed the Police Post in charge in the PGI for speedy and hassle free disposal of cases and also appreciated their work and human approach.
Later on he also went to the office of Director for an informal meeting for further strengthening the procedures and coordination between UT Administration and the institute.
Director PGI apprised the Governor regarding the upcoming facilities under construction at Sarangpur on the newly allotted piece of land by the administration to PGI.
