Super Chennai has conferred its ‘Icon of the Month’ recognition for March 2026 on V. Kamakoti, Director of Indian Institute of Technology Madras, in recognition of his significant contributions to technological innovation, academic leadership, and nation-building.
Chennai, March 30, 2026: Super Chennai has conferred its ‘Icon of the Month’ recognition for March 2026 on V. Kamakoti, Director of Indian Institute of Technology Madras, in recognition of his significant contributions to technological innovation, academic leadership, and nation-building.
The honour recognises Prof. Kamakoti’s role in strengthening India’s research ecosystem, advancing indigenous technology development, and positioning IIT Madras as a globally respected hub for innovation and interdisciplinary excellence. Under his leadership, the institution continues to drive research-led growth, deep-tech entrepreneurship, and nation-first innovation.
Instituted by Super Chennai, the ‘Icon of the Month’ initiative celebrates individuals who are shaping the city’s growth and global identity through leadership, innovation, and social impact.
Speaking on the recognition, Prof. V. Kamakoti said, “Chennai has always nurtured knowledge, innovation, and purpose-driven leadership. I am honoured to receive this recognition from Super Chennai. This award belongs as much to the institutions, teams, and communities that enable collective progress.”
