Chandigarh, October 16, 2015: Punjab Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today directed the State police to withdraw all cases registered against people protesting against the sacrilege of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji during the last one week.

In a statement here, he said the sentiments expressed by the protestors were the result of extreme provocation and the State was with them in this hour of grief. "My sentiments have also been deeply outraged by the desecration and I can understand the actions of the people", he said.
The Deputy CM, who also holds the Home portfolio, said he had directed the State police to withdraw all cases registered against protestors at both Kotkapura as well as Behbal Kalan, both in Faridkot district, as well as anywhere else in the State. "My conscience does not allow me to spoil the future any youngster who has reacted in a charged manner after hearing of the desecration of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji".
Mr Badal also appealed to Punjabis to maintain peace and communal harmony at all costs. "There are some forces who would like to disturb the peace in Punjab. We must not let such people succeed in their nefarious designs". He also assured the people that the Punjab government was with them in their hour of grief and was taking steps to arrest the culprits responsible for this ghastly crime immediately. 
 
 

BAJWA DEMANDS TIME BOUND INQUIRY BY SITTING SUPREME COURT JUDGE AND COMPENSATION OF RS 35 LAKH AT PAR WITH MOGA INCIDENT

Bathinda/Faridkot, October 16, 2015: The AICC General Secretary Mr Shakeel Ahmad and Punjab party chief Mr  Partap Singh Bajwa today demanded investigation by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the incident of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the police firing on peaceful protesters in which two persons were killed. They also demanded registration of cases against the deputy commission and the senior superintendent of police, Faridkot. They also called for apology from Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

At a news conference, they equated the firing on peaceful protesters at Behbal Kalan with Jallianwala Bagh. Mr Bajwa said the design was to divert the attention of the people from the agitation by the farmers demanding high compensation for cotton damage and the related issues. Mr Bajwa asserted all sections of society were totally fed with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Addressing the Media Dr Shakeel Ahmad strongly condemned the incident on behalf of the AICC and said he had been deputed by the party President Shrimati Sonia Gandhi and the vice-president Mr Rahul Gandhi to have first-hand report.

He lambasted the Mr Badal for being non-serious and said in case of Punjab, the custodian of law had become its violators. He alleged the Badals had their hand in every pie like  drugs, liquor trade transport, sand mining and were directly responsible for cotton crop failure and the pesticide scam.

Mr Ahmad said the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi had no sense of history and that was why he had committed the mistake of comparing the two leaders. 

S. Partap Singh Bajwa demanded compensation  of Rs 35 lakh and a job for the kin of the families of the two victims of police firing at par with Moga incident relating to molestation and death of a girl who was pushed out from Mr Sukhbir Badal owned Orbit bus.

He also condemned the Punjab police for mistreating party MP Ravneet Singh Bittu whose turban fell off in scuffle with the police. Mr Ahmad appreciated Mr Bittu for the way he was fighting for the people.

Mr Bajwa ridiculed comparison of the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal with South Africa’s human rights fighter Mr Nelson Mandela saying while Mr Mandela remained in jail for 27 long years, Mr Badal spent only total of four years and that also included the period he served under corruption charges.

Dr. Shakeel Ahmad and S. Partap Singh Bajwa sat on Dharna with the protestors at Baja Khana and Bar Gari. They address the protestors too.
