Students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology to organise Diwali Fest on Nov 7-8

New Delhi, November 5, 2015: Students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology will be organizing Diwali Fest on 7th & 8th November,2015 at Lokayata,Hauz Khas Village,New Delhi.The programme will start with lighting of traditional lamp and Goddess Laxmi pojan followed by welcome address by Ms.Paridhi Sharma,Centre Director,JD Hauz Khas.
 
Ms.Sonia Jetleey,an upcoming fashion designer  and  Ms.Shalini Vig ,Founder,‘Festival of Hope Foundation’, a cancer society will be inaugurating the Diwali Fest.
 
Nitin Kartikeya ,a prominent fashion designer who has been part of India Fashion Week for the last five years will be attending the fest on 8thNovember,2015 for supporting and inspiring the students.
 
The main aim of the fest is to make the student Designers understand how creatively they can contribute towards the society to be not just fashion designers but Responsible designers. Students will be making hand made products like lamp shades,candle stands,textile and fabric appreciation, diyas,nail art and tattoo,stylised customized jewellery and other decorative items.
 
Students will be contributing a part of overall sales in aid of  ‘Festival of Hope Foundation’, a cancer society that promotes Cancer awareness via workshops, seminars and Fashion shows.
 
Diwali is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn (northern hemisphere) every year.The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness. The festival preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Deepavali coincides with the darkest, new moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika.
