Students enlightened about livestock productivity in India during e-talk organised by KMV

Jalandhar: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organised an e-talk on the topic “Livestock Productivity in India: Concerns and Measures for sustainable Production” by Dr. Sheeraz Saleem Bhat, Scientist at ICAR-Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute Srinagar. The e-talk was organised by PG Department of Zoology. Dr. Bhat started his lecture with the introduction to livestock, its production and productivity. The speaker highlighted that as per 20th livestock census (2019) India has the largest livestock population in the world. Moreover, the rate of increase in livestock population is 485002 per day to its importance for livestock products. Further he discussed the ways of improving the livestock production and different types of markets available. Finally, he concluded his talk by sharing videos related to the topic with the participants. The e-talk ended with a healthy discussion during which the inquisitive participants asked various queries from the resource person to which Dr Sheeraz responded eloquently. 

Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the lecture was very enlightening, informative and useful for all the participants. She further maintained that it will open up  a new vistas for the students as they will be able to understand the nitty gritty of their subject in much detailed manner.
