State honour at Independence Day; Punjab extends date for sending recommendations

Chandigarh, May 20, 2014: The Punjab Government has extended the date up to June 15, 2014, for sending recommendations for the state honour during Independence Day. This decision has been taken to provide more time to the departments to scrutinize the eligible candidates and to forward their names for the state honour.
The spokesperson of the state government said that the personalities, who have set examples in the act of bravery and who have done commendable job in the field of social work, art and literature, science and technology, would be chosen for the coveted prize besides excellence in learned professions.
He further said that case prize of Rs. 50, 000 would be given to the person for his act of bravery in combating anti social elements. He said that case prize of Rs.25, 000 would be conferred for showing bravery in another field besides cash prize of Rs. 11, 000 for exceptional achievement/work in the field of social work, art and literature, science and technology and to learned professionals.
He further said that the deputy commissions have been directed to forward their recommendations via divisional commissioners. The recommendations of particular candidate must be supported by brief note of his biography, bio-data and the specified work he has done in particular field.
