Special Lecture on Vigilance and Drug Abuse Awareness
The Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a special lecture on the occasion of the celebration of Vigilance Awareness Week and the Drug Abuse Awareness Programme.
 
                        Chandigarh, October 31, 2025: The Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a special lecture on the occasion of the celebration of Vigilance Awareness Week and the Drug Abuse Awareness Programme.
A special lecture was delivered on the topic “The Vicious Cycle: Drugs, Self-Medication, and Mental Health – A Deep Dive into Anxiety and Alcohol Use. De-Stress with Yoga” by Amit Chahal, international medallist and General Secretary, Chandigarh Yogasana Association.
Dr Seema Malhotra introduced the keynote speaker to the audience and also informed everyone about the importance of the event. She administered the “Integrity Pledge for Citizens” as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025.
To begin with, Amit Chahal explained the importance of a holistic approach to yoga and well-being, which includes both physical and mental benefits such as stress reduction, improved flexibility, and enhanced concentration. She emphasised that yoga is a practice that harmonises the body, mind, and soul.
Professor Ashu Pasricha, Chairperson, Department of Gandhian and Peace Studies, proposed a formal vote of thanks.
