Sharda University hosts innovate Bharat Hackathon 2026
The Sharda School of Computing Science and Engineering (SSCSE) at Sharda University, Greater Noida, successfully concluded the Innovate Bharat Hackathon 2026 (IBH 2026) on 11th April— a landmark event that marked the continuation of a strong tradition of fostering innovation, technical excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration among some of the brightest young minds across India.
Greater Noida, April 11, 2026: The Sharda School of Computing Science and Engineering (SSCSE) at Sharda University, Greater Noida, successfully concluded the Innovate Bharat Hackathon 2026 (IBH 2026) on 11th April— a landmark event that marked the continuation of a strong tradition of fostering innovation, technical excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration among some of the brightest young minds across India. Held under the inspiring theme "Innovating Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow," IBH 2026 brought together over 300 registered teams from approximately 15 states and major cities including Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Andhra Pradesh, Bareilly, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kanpur, and Jodhpur.
After a rigorous online idea submission and technical evaluation held from 16–18 March, the top 100 teams were shortlisted to compete in the Grand Finale — a gruelling 24-hour marathon of ideation, development, and presentation held at the Experiential Learning Centre, Block-45, Sharda University. Participation came from some of India's most reputed institutions including Jamia Milia Islamia, Amity University Mohali, PIET Kanpur, and several other leading universities, making IBH 2026 a truly national showcase of student-driven innovation.
The Grand Finale was inaugurated on 10th April at 9:30 AM at the Experiential Learning Centre, Block-45, 3rd Floor, and was graced by the presence of the university's top leadership, eminent academicians, and mentors, including Shri Pradeep Kumar Gupta (Chancellor), Shri Yatendra Kumar Gupta (Pro-Chancellor), Prof. (Dr.) Sibaram Khara (Vice-Chancellor), Prof. (Dr.) Parma Nand (Pro-Vice Chancellor), Prof. (Dr.) Geetha Ganesan (Dean, SSCSE), Prof. (Dr.) Krishnan Batri, Prof. (Dr.) Sudeep Varshney (HoD–CSE), and Dr. Rajneesh Kumar Singh (HoD–CSA). The event was convened by Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Gupta, Dr. Pushpendra Kumar Rajput, and Prof. (Dr.) Jayant Shekhar. The organizing team comprised Prof. (Dr.) Ambuj Agarwal, Dr. Gaurav Raj, Dr. Amrit Kumar Agarwal, Dr. Rani Astya, Dr. Abhishek Singh Verma, Dr. Ravi Prakesh, Mr. Amit Kumar Upadhyay, Dr. Mayank Kumar Goyal, Mr. Ashish Jain, Prof. (Dr.) Gauri Shankar Mishra, Dr. Shikha Verma, Dr. Renu Mishra, Dr. Bal Krishna Saraswat, Dr. Dharm Raj, Dr. Amit Sharma, Dr. Rashmi Rathi Upadhyay, Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Dr. Rajiv Kumar Nath, Mr. Durgesh Kumar, Dr. Inderpreet Kaur, Ms. Harminder Kaur, and Mr. Aditya Dayal Tyagi. Mentors, faculty members, and industry experts actively guided participating teams throughout the 24-hour event, enhancing learning, networking, and industry readiness for all finalists IBH 2026 covered six forward-looking challenge domains, encouraging participants to develop scalable, ethical, and socially relevant solutions aligned with national development goals. These themes included AI & Intelligent Systems, Web, App & Software Innovation, Cybersecurity & Blockchain, Data Science & Smart Analytics, Social Impact & Smart India Solutions, and School Student Innovation — spanning a wide spectrum of technological domains and societal challenges relevant to modern India.
The Award Distribution Ceremony was held on 11th April at 12:00 PM at the Anand Swaroop Auditorium, Block-45. The first prize of ₹1,00,000 was awarded to Team SSIS108 from MIT World Peace University for their project "Democratising Quality Education in India" leveraging RAG, LLM, and Conversational AI. The second prize of ₹50,000 went to Team AIIS137 from Sharda University itself for "Agent Mistey: An Assistive AI Agent Platform for Inclusive Digital Access." The third prize of ₹25,000 was claimed by Team SSIS131 from VIPS TC for their "IoT Based TFA Neutralising System."
Consolation prizes were awarded across individual themes recognising the breadth of innovation: Team AIIS150 from PIET for an AI-Based Traffic Management System, Team CSBC106 from IILM for a Universal AI, Cloud, and Blockchain Powered Firewall, Team SSIS185 from ITS Engineering College for FertoBot, Team DSSA112 from Amity University Mohali for ArogyaAI, and Team WASI145 from Jamia Milia Islamia for AttendAce — a QR & Face Recognition Attendance System. A special School Student Innovation category recognised Team SCHI101 from Step Up School, Ghaziabad, for their Smart Solar-Thermal Energy House project. The total prize pool for IBH 2026 stood at ₹2,00,000, with all finalists also receiving free accommodation, meals, and participation certificates throughout the event.
Behind the seamless execution of IBH 2026 was a dedicated team of student coordinators who worked tirelessly for weeks — managing registrations, assisting mentors, coordinating logistics, and supporting hundreds of participants. Their relentless commitment ensured that the 24-hour hackathon ran without a hitch, earning appreciation from faculty, mentors, and participants alike. Innovate Bharat Hackathon 2026 reaffirmed Sharda University's unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and real-world problem-solving.
