New Dehi, May 23, 2014: The Special Judge for CBI cases, Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) has convicted Radhamani; Shrinivasan and Sreelal U/s 498 A, 306 r/w 34 of IPC in the suicide case of  Priyanka and sentenced them to  undergo Seven Years Rigorous Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. One Lakh each. It was also ordered that the total fine amount for Rs.3 lakhs and the gold ring recovered from the body of the deceased will also be given to the daughter of deceased Priyanka (victim).

CBI had registered a case during 2007 on the orders of Kerala High Court. It was alleged that Priyanka aged 23 years W/o  Sreekanth had committed suicide by pouring kerosene on her body and immolated herself on 8.8.2004 in furtherance of the cruelty, harassment and intimidation by the accused persons.   Priyanka succumbed due to the burn injuries.

CBI took over the investigation from the State Police in the year 2007 and filed a chargesheet during 2010 after thorough investigation.

The Trial Court found the accused persons guilty and convicted them.
