Seminar on ‘Inclusive Education: Practices and Challenges in Transforming Era’

Chandigarh, March 7, 2025: The Department of Community Education and Disability Studies, Panjab University, today organised a seminar on the theme ‘Inclusive Education: Practices and Challenges in Transforming Era’. 

The Resource Person, Mr. Vishwanath, City Magistrate, Panchkula (Haryana), who started the lecture with saying “Inclusion is the celebration of diversity put into action”. He focused on that sustainability can only be achieved with social equity and social progress. He explained the key components of inclusion like; training of teachers, barrier free environment, equal opportunity, full participation, support services, and family involvement. He also introduced the methods and principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL); 1. multiple means of representation, 2. multiple means of engagement, 3. multiple means of expression. 

To ensure the inclusive education for children with special needs, its mandatory to establish UDL model in our schools, said Dr. Md Saifur Rahman, Chairperson of the department. Faculty members; Nitin Raj, Taukir Alam, and Satparkash were present in the seminar. At the end, Nitin Raj expressed the vote of thanks.
