Ludhiana, February 4, 2025: A seminar was held at the renowned educational institution, Guru Hargobind Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, Ludhiana, addressing the declining classroom engagement among students.
Over 70 principals and teachers from various schools participated in the event. The seminar began with the college's traditional Shabad, "Deh Shiva Bar Mohe Eha." College Principal Prof. Inderjeet Singh welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of classroom engagement in student life.
Following this, a discussion was held among the principals and teachers regarding the issue. The collective opinion was that the trend of decreasing student interest in classrooms is steadily growing. To address this, it was suggested that parents, teachers, and education policymakers need to be more aware and proactive. It was also proposed that curricula be developed according to the needs of the times, focusing on skills that will lead to employment opportunities for students. Teachers must also work on enhancing their academic standards and staying connected with the educational field, while parents need to recognize the importance of education. If efforts are made on all these fronts, students will be motivated to return to the classroom.
After the discussion, the principals and teachers were honored by the college. Dr. Rajinder Singh Sahil, the event coordinator, expressed his gratitude to all the participants. The event was effectively hosted by Dr. Sohan Singh and Prof. Arti Sharma. The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Shri Vinod Kumar, Principal of Collegiate School, Prof. S.K. Gupta, Prof. Jaswinder Kaur, and others.
