SCS Inaugurates Sanskriti Club with a Vibrant Diwali Celebration
School of Communication Studies (SCS), Panjab University, Chandigarh today launched its new Students’ Activity Club, Sanskriti, which is dedicated to promoting art and cultural activities among students.
Chandigarh, October 17, 2025: School of Communication Studies (SCS), Panjab University, Chandigarh today launched its new Students’ Activity Club, Sanskriti, which is dedicated to promoting art and cultural activities among students.
The club aims to foster a spirit of solidarity through India’s rich cultural heritage and provide a vibrant platform to showcase students’ talent in folk songs, dance, poetry recitation, storytelling, one-act plays, and other cultural expressions.
The launch of the Sanskriti Club was marked by a lively pre-Diwali celebration, filling the department with Rangoli colours, lights, and festive cheer. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, guest faculty, staff, and research scholars.
Avinash Thakur, Department Representative, expressed his excitement at the launch and highlighted the vision of the club. He outlined the day’s engaging programme, which included traditional dance performances, soulful singing, and heartfelt poetry recitations.
Adding to the significance, Vats Ambardar, UGC JRF Scholar, shared that SCS already runs two active clubs — 70MM for cinema viewing and discussions, and Communis for literary pursuits such as quizzes and debates. Sanskriti will further enrich student life by celebrating India’s diverse cultural fabric.
The Chairperson of SCS, Prof. Archana R. Singh, congratulated the entire team behind the initiative, encouraging them to sustain their enthusiasm and contribute to building a culturally vibrant environment. The Chairperson also concluded the event by reciting her own poem, adding a personal and artistic touch to the celebration.
