The event aimed to build the capacity of young communicators in climate storytelling, digital advocacy, and sustainability-oriented journalism, addressing the critical communication gap between climate, science and public understanding.

The workshop, attended enthusiastically by students, featured experts who stressed the urgent need for credible, consistent, and community-focused climate messaging.

He encouraged young communicators to influence public opinion and
policy.

The core workshop session was led by Ms. Rachna Verma, an eminent independent

Her comprehensive session covered the concept of climate as “borderless,” illustrating how every reporting beat, including politics, gender, health, and migration, is connected to climate change. She also stressed on identifying human-interest angles in climate stories and the ethics and sensitivity required in climate journalism.

Sabyasachi Bharti, Deputy Director, CMS VATAVARAN, stressed the narrative nature of climate change and the challenges of finding authentic stories. He highlighted CMS VATAVARAN’s pivotal role in strengthening climate communication across India and called upon students to initiate local campaigns.

Students actively engaged in hands-on discussions on narrative framing and story development, concluding the workshop with a certificate distribution ceremony.

In her address Prof. Archana R. Singh, Chairperson, SCS, focused on the “Three Cs” of effective climate communication i.e. Clarity, Credibility, and Community. She emphasised that climate action is a collective endeavour and urged students to use their media skills to drive sustainable change.
