Science City Observes World Drug Day to Spread Awareness against Drug Abuse

Pushpa Gujral Science City recently observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with the aim of spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and the need to stop drug-related crimes. This year's theme, "Break the Cycle: Stop Organized Crime" focused on stopping the root causes of drug problems and building a safer society through better education, healthcare and support systems.

Science City Observes World Drug Day to Spread Awareness against Drug Abuse

Kapurthala, June 26, 2025: Pushpa Gujral Science City recently observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with the aim of spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and the need to stop drug-related crimes. This year's theme, "Break the Cycle: Stop Organized Crime" focused on stopping the root causes of drug problems and building a safer society through better education, healthcare and support systems.

One of the highlights of the event was  Nukkad Natak (street play) by the Azad Bhagat Singh Virasat Manch, Amritsar. The play showcased the dangers of drug addiction and urged young people to stay away from drugs. It left a strong impact on the audience especially the youth by showing how drugs can destroy lives and families.

Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, PGSC explained that this day is a reminder of the importance of working together to build a drug-free world. He said that drug abuse doesn't just affect individuals but also harms families and society too. He stressed that while governments must act against drug trafficking, however, local communities also need to play their part.

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Munish Soin, Scientist D, PGSC encouraged parents to be alert and create a safe, supportive environment for their children helping them stay away from harmful influences like drugs.
