Satish Chander Dhawan Govt College Alumni greet ISRO Chairperson Dr S Somanath

It was an historic day not only for Ludhiana but for the whole of the Punjab state that ISRO Chairperson Dr S. Somanath visited Sat Paul Mittal School at the behest of Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Chairperson of the school at its 20th anniversary celebrations.

Ludhiana, April 10, 2024: It was an historic day not only for Ludhiana but for the whole of the Punjab state that ISRO Chairperson Dr S. Somanath visited Sat Paul Mittal School at the behest of Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Chairperson of the school at its 20th anniversary celebrations.

Dr S Somanath, the man who had last year proclaimed “India is on the Moon" after the successful touchdown of the Indian spacecraft Chandrayaan-3's lander, his coming at Ludhiana has been hailed widely by the academicians and others.

Ludhiana has an emotional connection with India's space programme news always because Dr Satish Chander Dhawan has been an alumnus of the local SCD Govt College, Ludhiana and had become ISRO Chairman in the year 1972. The Alumni Association executives of the SCD Govt. College especially went to greet Dr S Somanath.

Presenting Dr S Somnath with a bouquet and a book on Commemoration Lectures on Birth Centenary Celebrations (1920-2020) of Satish Dhawan in the presence of Rakesh Bharti Mittal and Vipin Gupta (of DMCH Managing Committee), also Alumni of the college, they shared about the Ludhiana studentship stint of Satish Dhawan in 1930s to which ISRO chairman was delighted to learn.

Satish Dhawan’s father was a sessions judge at Ludhiana at that time .

Other Alumni present on the were O P Verma (PCS) Retd., Prof Rashmi Verma, Sunil Gupta , Mukesh from York Hosiery besides many others. Er. Dr Tara Singh Kamal, also an alumnus, also hailed S Somnat’s visit in Punjab.

“The enterprising and innovative spirit of the city’s people especially young students will be further boosted by the visit of ISRO Chairperson which is first of its kind here and all credit goes to the management of Sat Paul Mittal School management”, said Goyal, the Organising Secretary of Alumni Association.

Rakesh Bhaarti Mittal and school principal Gogia appreciated the efforts of Alumni of SCD College in greeting the visiting ISRO Chairperson.
