Ludhiana, March 23, 2015: Sankara Eye Foundation, India has been conferred with the prestigious IMC Ramakrishna Bajaj National Quality Award 2014 in health care sector by the IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award (IMC RBNQA) Trust– a joint initiative of the Indian Merchants’ Chambers and the House of Bajaj.

IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award is the most prestigious national quality award in the country. The award was named after Late Mr. Ramkrishna Bajaj, Past President, IMC, and was established in 1996 to provide special recognition to excellence in organizations.

Founder and Managing Trustee of Sankara Eye Care Foundation, India Dr. R.V. Ramani, received the award from Vishwanathan Anand on 20th March at the Making Quality Happen Awards Ceremony, at  Y B Chavan Auditorium, Mumbai.

On this occasion Dr. Ramani commented that “Sankara’s recognition for best practices and quality systems in healthcare is even more gratifying and noteworthy given the presence of the best of corporate hospitals in the country vying for the national recognition. Winning the RBNQA was the culmination of the tremendous effort the team at the Sankara Eye Hospital put in while implementing the world-class practices across the organization. This famed Sankara Quality eyecare is available not only in the southern stated India but also in Mumbai, Kanpur and Ludhiana in western & north India”

 As a winner of the IMC RBNQA award, Sankara has achieved eligibility to apply for the Global Performance Excellence Award, the only formal global recognition of performance excellence.

Winning this award reinforces the organization’s resolve in aligning with the mission and vision to continue being world-class and providing quality eye-care for all.

It may be mentioned here that Sankara Eye Foundation is a Non Profit NGO and part of the Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust founded in 1977 at Coimbatore with a vision to provide quality eye care. With the goal of replicating one Sankara Eye Hospital in every State in India, the group is working towards freedom from preventable and curable blindness - " Vision 20/20 by the year 2020 " - wherein no one would be needlessly blind

Sankara has a chain of 13 eye hospitals comprising a team of 200 doctors, 600 paramedical professionals, 275 support staff and total bed strength of 1800. It has treated and performed more than 1.2 million Free Eye Care surgeries and every day about 500 eye care surgeries are performed in Sankara Hospitals.
