A book release and Panel Discussion on the books entitled ‘Guru Tegh Bahadur: Jeevan ate Rachna Sansar’ edited by Prof Gurpal Singh and Prof. Sarabjit Singh; and ‘Navam Guru Ko Naman’ by Dr. Harmohindar Singh Bedi, Chancellor Central University of Himachal Pradesh in the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Panjab University Chandigarh.

Chandigarh, August 25, 2023: A book release and Panel Discussion on the books entitled ‘Guru Tegh Bahadur: Jeevan ate Rachna Sansar’ edited by Prof Gurpal Singh and Prof. Sarabjit Singh; and ‘Navam Guru Ko Naman’ by Dr. Harmohindar Singh Bedi, Chancellor Central University of Himachal Pradesh in the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Panjab University Chandigarh. 

Program was started with a welcome address by Prof. Gurpal Singh, Academic In Charge of the Department. A warm welcome was given to Prof. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor, P. U Chandigarh and to other dignitaries. All the dignatories gave a applaud and thanks to Vice Chancellor on getting A++ NAAC Grade to University.

Dr. Sarabjit Singh, Chairperson, School of Punjabi Studies, PU Chandigarh gave an introductory address regarding the books. He gave a detailed illustration and account of struggles during the compilation of these books and projects.

Dr. Gurmit Singh, Professor of Hindi, PU Chandigarh said that the book ‘Navam Guru Ko Naman’ is a masterpiece of Hindi poetic genre, consisting a detailed devotional, historical and religious discourses of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Dr. Neena Seth Pajni, Principal Gobindgarh Public College Khanna said that Sikh gurus gave a sense of dignity and self-respect in the Indian masses. They converted mass of cowards into the guru inspired lions. They infused a sense of unity and association in the Indian masses.

Dr. Harmohindar Singh Bedi, said that these books gives us an insight of Sikh history, philosophy and traditions. He also concerned about the present conditions of Punjab show some sense of grief. In his Poetic Piece, he gave a global sense of Sikh religion and traditions.

In his inaugural and presidential address Prof. Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor, PU Chandigarh said that teachings of Gurus are not only theoretical but applied. She point out that modern man is full stress and anxiety, rushing after worldly stuff and pleasures. She urged to bring mental piece and contemplate posture in the life. She gave example of Alexander The Great.

Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur is an unique example found in the world; dying for the sake of others is a spirits of Guru.

Many scholars, guests and students participated in the discussion. At the end of Talk, Dr. Sarabjit Singh gave a vote of thanks. Program was conducted in both offline and online mode.
