Red Cross Rohtak Scales Up Humanitarian Mission with Data-Driven Impact and Community-Centric Approach: DC Sachin Gupta
The District Red Cross Society, Rohtak, under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-President Sachin Gupta, is witnessing a significant expansion in its humanitarian footprint, with measurable progress across healthcare outreach, blood donation, youth engagement, skill development, and disaster preparedness.
Rohtak, April 21, 2026: The District Red Cross Society, Rohtak, under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-President Sachin Gupta, is witnessing a significant expansion in its humanitarian footprint, with measurable progress across healthcare outreach, blood donation, youth engagement, skill development, and disaster preparedness.
In a major preventive health initiative, the Deputy Commissioner has directed preparation of a district-wide plan to train all students of Classes 8 to 12 in First Aid and CPR.
* Around 5,000 volunteers to be developed from schools and colleges
* Training to create a prepared and responsive citizen base
* Focus on institutionalising life-saving skills at an early age
Rohtak has achieved a strong milestone of 21,672 units of blood collected through 380 camps (till March 2026). Building on this, the district has now set an enhanced target of 30,000 units, with a structured expansion strategy involving; Colleges and universities, Government institutions, and NGOs and community groups.
The aim is to ensure zero shortage of blood for any patient in need. 485+ health and awareness camps conducted across rural and urban areas. Special focus will be on senior citizens, slum populations, and vulnerable groups.
The district is now moving towards a “saturation approach”, ensuring; every village and underserved pocket receives basic health services, and preventive healthcare reaches the last mile.
In a forward-looking initiative Youth from vulnerable areas will be identified and trained in home nursing and trained individuals can work as caregivers, creating livelihood opportunities.
Additionally; Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) to provide skill training to unemployed youth and expansion of online training capacity from 480 to 600 participants.
A structured volunteer ecosystem is being built:
* Large-scale enrolment in schools and colleges
* Training in First Aid, disaster response, and community service
* Creation of a district-wide volunteer force
* Formation of Civil Defence teams underway
* Citizens being trained for emergency response and resilience
This initiative aims to ensure community readiness during disasters and emergencies.
* District-wide camps for assessment and distribution of aids & appliances
* Coverage planned across all wards and villages
* Focus on dignity, accessibility, and inclusion
The administration is strengthening Red Cross operations through:
* Better utilisation of existing assets and infrastructure
* Expansion of income-generating training programmes
* Exploration of CSR partnerships for health and social initiatives
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta emphasized, “The Red Cross in Rohtak is evolving into a mission-driven, outcome-oriented institution. Our focus is on measurable impact, transparency, and maximum community participation to build a healthier and safer society.”
The district administration has urged citizens, educational institutions and Youth and volunteers to actively participate and contribute towards building a compassionate, resilient, and service-oriented society.
