Ludhiana, August 14, 2025: Ramgarhia Girls College came alive with colour, culture, and celebration as it hosted two grand events — the Miss Freshers Party and the traditional “Mela Teeyan Da”. Organised by the Central Students’ Association (CSA) in collaboration with the PG Department of Punjabi and the Department of Home Science, the programme combined youthful enthusiasm with rich Punjabi heritage.
The event was graced by Rajinder Kaur, MD, G.S. Radiators, as Chief Guest, and Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Educational Council, as Guest of Honour. Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur, along with CSA Incharges Tejinder Kaur and Aarti Kapur, extended a floral welcome to the dignitaries.
The mela showcased Punjabi culture through an exhibition of phulkari, parandas, folk instruments, clay toys, antique utensils, and the iconic charkha — a major attraction for students. Selfie points, swings (peengh), mehndi stalls, colourful bangles, and traditional food counters added to the festive ambience. Students also participated in talent-hunt competitions, performing songs, dances, music pieces, and the traditional giddha.
The highlight of the day was the crowning of “Miss Fresher” and “Rani Teeyan Di” after three competitive rounds testing beauty, intelligence, and confidence. Tripti (B.Com I) won the Miss Fresher title, with Jaspreet Kaur (M.A. I, Music Vocal) as First Runner-up and Parul Rawat (M.A. I, Music Vocal) as Second Runner-up. Harleen Kaur (B.A. I) was crowned Miss Beautiful, while Vandana (B.A. I) won Miss Elegant. Dressed in traditional Punjabi attire, Dilveen Kaur (B.A. III) was crowned “Rani Teeyan Di” by the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjodh Singh said, “Alongside academics, such activities are essential for personal growth. They instil confidence, provide a platform for talent, and help students carve their own identity. The Punjabi-dressed girls have truly enhanced the grandeur of the event.”
Principal Dr. Ajit Kaur congratulated the students, noting their enthusiasm and zeal, and expressed hope they would excel in all fields. Commenting on the exhibition, she added, “In today’s mechanised era, we must not lose touch with our roots. Events like this foster love and respect for our cultural heritage.” She also appreciated the coordinated efforts of the CSA Incharges and the collaborating departments for the successful execution of the event.
