Punjab Set To Become Biosciences Incubator Of 21st Century

SAS Nagar (Mohali), October 28, 2015: Punjab is all set to become the incubator of biosciences of 21st century with pillars of one of the finest bioscience centers fuelling its growth. The Kings College London’s MoU to set up Bioscience University in Education City will attract world’s bioscience industry to new Chandigarh opening vistas of employment in the field of pharmaceuticals, academia and research & development.
The keenness and commitment of Punjab government towards promoting biosciences investments in the form of infrastructure development and best of the research and development facility in the state has buoyed this sector.
Deepanwita Chattopadhyay, the Chairperson and CEO IKP Hyderabad, said that Punjab was blessed to have skilled human resources and atmosphere for research and academia in the neighborhood to promote biotechnology sector – technology transfer, research and development etc.
Gautam Dass COO ABLE said that education and health cities in new Chandigarh were emerging as new research and development hubs of bioscience. Further, owing to its excellent infrastructure, connectivity, good quality of life that proximity to Baddi (Asia’s largest pharma cluster), Mohali offers the place is well suited to become the Lifesciences hub of India.
Dr Vijay Chander founder and chairman, Strand Life Sciences felt that Punjab should focus on research in oncology sector and produce affordable drugs, decode genomes of the malady and contribute in all possible ways of biosciences towards  bringing affordable palliative and other treatment for cancer patients.
