Punjab constitutes committees for smooth conduct of 5th World Cup Kabaddi

Chandigarh, November 12, 2014: The Punjab Government has constituted different committees for the smooth conduct of the 5th edition of the World Cup Kababbi, 2014.

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the Punjab Government said that an Executive Committee under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Punjab has been constituted. The executive committee would be responsible for the overall supervision of the tournament including functioning of other committees. In this committee Principal Secretary, Department of Cultural Affairs, Principal Secretary, Department of Finance, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Principal Secretary, Department of Information and Public Relations, Director General of Police, Secretary, Department of Sports & Youth Services and Director Sports have been included as members.

Monitoring and Oversee Committee has been formed under the Chairmanship or R.S.Mongia, Justice (Retd.) and other member of this committee would be T.C. Gupta IAS (Retd.) and Harmik Singh Olympian. The spokesperson said that Secretary of Department of Sports & Youth Services would be the Chairman of Cultural Programme Evaluation Committee and Ceremonies & Entertainment Committee. Similarly Principle Secretary Department of Finance would be the Chairman of Finance & Marketing Committee.

Principal Secretary, Department of Information & Public Relations has been made the chairman of Media Committee and Director General of Police would chair the Security Arrangement Committee.

Spokesman further said that Medical & Anti Doping Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Dr. Manmohan Singh and Pargat Singh, MLA, Jalandhar Cantt would chair the Games Technical Committee. He said that for Transport Committee State Transport Commissioner, Punjab would be the chairman.

Shivdev Singh has been made the Director Tournament and Balwinder Singh Fiddu as Joint Director Tournament. He said that concerned Deputy Commissioner of the districts where the matches are scheduled to be played would be the chairman of the Venue Committee.
