Punjab CM Orders For Special Girdawri To Assess Total Damage Of Wheat Crop

Payal (Ludhiana), April 17, 2015: Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal today informed that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has ordered a special girdawri to assess the total damage of wheat crop due to rainfall and hailstorm in Punjab. He said this while speaking to media persons after inaugurating the procurement of wheat at grain markets of Malaud and Payal, today.
He said that the state government has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth procurement of wheat crop in the district. When some Arhtiya';s (commission agents) apprised the speaker about some problems, he issued strict instructions to staff to make sure that all their grievances are redressed on time. He also directed all procurement agencies to lift the wheat crop arriving in the grain markets of the district on time.
Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal also interacted with the farmers and urged them to bring only the ripened crop to the grain markets if they want proper rates. He also promised to take up the matter of increased moisture content with the Chief Minister.
He informed that till date, 6249 MT of wheat has arrived in all mandis of the Ludhiana district, out of which 4091 MT has already been lifted. He also assured the farmers that there would be no shortage of bardana (jute bags) for the ongoing wheat procurement.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included SDM Harjot Kaur, DFSC Sona Thind, Nagar Council Payal chairman Bhupinder Singh Cheema, Market Committee chairman Jarnail Singh, SGPC member Raghbir Singh Saharanmajra besides several others.
