Chandigarh, 18 November 2025: The Centre for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (CSDE), Panjab University, Chandigarh, conducted a 30-hour Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) on 'Experimental Research Design and Analysis' for research scholars from November 3–17, 2025.
The SEC was designed to strengthen conceptual understanding and analytical skills in experimental research across disciplines. Through a mix of concept sessions, design clinics, and software-based analysis labs, the Course focused on upskilling scholars to translate research ideas into robust experimental designs and credible evidence.
The programme drew research scholars from a range of domains, reflecting Panjab University's interdisciplinary research culture. Sessions on measurement, reliability, and validity were complemented by discussions on ethical safeguards and institutional review processes, enabling participants to connect methodological rigour with responsible practice. The SEC thus created a structured space for scholars to test assumptions, refine their designs, and receive feedback on how to strengthen the causal claims in their ongoing and planned research.
PU Director, Research & Development Cell Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, in her valedictory address, highlighted the importance of deliberate design, ethical foundations, and rigorous analysis as three core pillars of experimental research, with an emphasis on designing better evidence for better decisions in academia, organisations, and public policy. She lauded the CSDE initiative and the efforts of the resource persons and participants in strengthening the University's culture of rigorous, evidence-based research. The Course is an important step in building a critical mass of scholars who can design and interpret experiments with confidence, thereby enhancing the quality and impact of research emerging from Panjab University.
