PU Microbiologist Prof. Naveen Gupta Awarded Prestigious FAMSc Fellowship

Prof. Naveen Gupta, Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, has been conferred the esteemed FAMSc (Fellow of the Academy of Microbiological Sciences). The fellowship, awarded by the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI), is among the highest recognitions for distinguished microbiologists for their outstanding contributions to the field.

Chandigarh, December 5, 2025: Prof. Naveen Gupta, Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, has been conferred the esteemed FAMSc (Fellow of the Academy of Microbiological Sciences). The fellowship, awarded by the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI), is among the highest recognitions for distinguished microbiologists for their outstanding contributions to the field.

The honour was presented during the 66th Annual International Conference & Research Conclave of the Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI-66) held at Dev Bhoomi University, Dehradun.

Prof. Gupta’s academic and research achievements include three granted international patents and three granted national patents and translational research. Several technologies developed under his guidance are currently undergoing industrial trials.

He has also led research of significant societal value in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation and departments of the Chandigarh Administration, particularly in the domain of wastewater treatment.
