PU improves its Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024

Continuing with its marked improvement in various performance indicators this year, Panjab University has made significant jump in its Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, 2024, results of which were announced on 27th September.

Chandigarh, September 28, 2023: Continuing with its marked improvement in various performance indicators this year, Panjab University has made significant jump in its Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, 2024, results of which were announced on 27th September. PU has been ranked in the bracket of 601-800, a notable improvement from 2023 wherein it was in 801-1000 bracket globally. Panjab University has been awarded 6thrank in India along with Institutions like JNU, Delhi University, BHU, Aligarh Muslim University, IIT Guwahati, Jamia Hamdard, all of whom are in 601-800bracket. The new methodology of Times Higher Education (THE) ranking has 18 parameters compared to 13 earlier across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. 
 
There has been a consistent improvement in various rankings of Panjab University this year. Earlier in June 2023, PU had improved its QS global rankings wherein it was ranked in 1000+ category, better from 1200-1400 category of 2022.
 
Center For World University Rankings (CWUR) has also ranked Panjab University among top 3.7% universities globally and 9th best university in India in its 2023 rankings.
 
NAAC had granted highest grade of A++ with CGPA of 3.68 out of 4.00 in 4th Cycle of Accreditation in August 2023, making it highest ranked University in India in dual mode category. This was substantial jump over its score of 3.35 with Grade A in 3rd Cycle.
 
Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor Panjab University, expressed optimism that Panjab University will realise its true potential in very near future. Congratulating the faculty, students, staff, alumni and other stake holders for such a series of remarkable achievements, she made earnest appeal to all to continue this march towards excellence.
