PU Assistant Professor writes science popularisation book “Evolution: The Scientific Religion”

Chandigarh: Dr. Jagdish Rai, Assistant Professor for Forensic Biological Sciences, Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology, Panjab University, Chandigarh has written a science popularisation book "Evolution: The Scientific Religion". Dr. Rai said that the theory of evolution has now developed to the extent that it can now address questions about our happiness, ethics, hunch feeling, behavioral strategies, and healthy lifestyle. These questions as well as the question of the origin of life and biodiversity was earlier addressed only in the domain of religion, he said. He informed that a scientific answer to these questions can make everyone's life better. In this book, the answer to these questions as well as the new concerns arising from personal genome sequencing is articulated in easy language, he added. He further informed that the latest understanding of the perception of God, superstitions and some counter-intuitive phenomena are also summarised in this book.
