Chandigarh, September 19, 2023: Department of Biochemistry in collaboration with Central Placement Cell, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a placement sensitization event “Moulding Young Biochemists” on Tuesday.
Prof. Archana Bhatnagar, Coordinator, Placement Cell (Biochemistry) welcomed Prof. Meena Sharma, Honorary Director, Central Placement Cell, PU, Guest Speaker of the day Dr. Rakesh Bijarnia, Director Diagnostic & Research Lab * True Scan (Medzome Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.), Diagnostic Research Centre, Chandigarh.
Prof. A.S. Naura, Chairperson of the department in his inaugural address, introduced the scope of Biochemistry and various employment opportunities available in the field. He highlighted the importance of Biochemistry in diagnostic and vaccine development by citing the example of corona pandemic.
Prof. Meena Sharma sensitized the student about the role being played by the Central Placement Cell in making the students aware of various employment opportunities in different fields and stressed upon the placement drives being conducted by the Cell from time to time to facilitate students to get appropriate placements in different organizations.
Dr. Bijarnia, an alumnus of the department gave an elaborative talk on topic “Biochemistry: Industry & Entrepreneurship” by sharing his experience from academic and professional journey. The event was well attended by the students who raised various queries which ware addressed well by the speakers.
