Rohtak, August 19, 2026: From stroke and Parkinson’s disease to post-surgical and critical-care recovery, physiotherapy is emerging as an indispensable pillar of modern healthcare, UHSR Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal said on Wednesday as around 700 students joined a webinar series organised by the College of Physiotherapy under World Physiotherapy Month.

The inaugural session was held at LT-5, PGIMS, with students from various colleges across Haryana and UHSR-affiliated institutions joining the live platform for the first time.

VC Dr Aggarwal said physiotherapists were playing a crucial role in helping patients regain mobility and return to normal life after surgery, intensive care and serious illnesses. He urged students to combine professional excellence with discipline, dedication and sensitivity towards patients, while pursuing continuous research to build a global reputation.

Registrar and Principal of the College of Physiotherapy Dr Roop Singh urged MPT students to publish their research and theses, saying this would help extend the benefits of research to patients and medical professionals across the country.

PGIMS Director Dr S.K. Singhal said physiotherapy was no longer merely a department but had become a backbone of modern healthcare. He stressed strengthening curriculum, research and clinical training to international standards.

Experts Dr Jaiprakash Jayavelu, Dr Shefali Walia, Dr Alka Pawalia, Dr Nitin Dhar and Dr Navinderpal Singh delivered lectures on neuro, orthopaedic, cardio and sports physiotherapy.

Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal, Dental College Principal Dr Manu Rathi, Public Relations Department in-charge Dr Manjunath, faculty members and students were also present.
