Ludhiana, June 17, 2014: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader H.S.Phoolka on Monday expressed his solidarity with the shopkeepers and people of Ghumar Mandi and Malhar Road area against the implementation of dictatorial policy of charging parking fee in different parts of the city. The stated reason of the Municipal Corporation for this is to generate revenue, but not only public but also the shopkeepers are being harassed a lot under the garb of the policy. In a statement here, he added that no fee should be charged if the vehicle is parked for short stay up to 10 minutes. Also, for multiple entries, separate whole day ticket to be given.

At Malhar Road, shopkeepers had blocked the traffic at 4’00 PM. Phoolka arrived and requested them not to block traffic as it is causing inconvenience to the general public. At the request of Phoolka, shopkeepers lifted the blockade and allowed the traffic to move.

Some house owners informed Phoolka whenever they park their scooters in and out from their houses, parking attendants charge the fee. That shows that even when the vehicle is parked inside the house, parking fee is charged from ingress and outgress of the vehicle. This is highly deplorable. Corporation should realize that their main job is to work for the convenience of the people and not to harass them. Phoolka extended  the shopkeepers his full support.
