PCM S.D. College for Women Celebrates “Mela Teeyan Da” with Traditional Zeal and Cultural Splendour
The Youth Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Department of Punjabi at PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized “Mela Teeyan Da” to celebrate the vibrant cultural heritage of Punjab and foster traditional awareness among students.

Jalandhar, August 8, 2025: The Youth Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Department of Punjabi at PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organized “Mela Teeyan Da” to celebrate the vibrant cultural heritage of Punjab and foster traditional awareness among students.
The college campus came alive with joy and festivity as students and staff enthusiastically participated in a variety of cultural activities. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, lauded the efforts of the organizing departments for promoting Punjab’s rich cultural traditions through such meaningful celebrations.
The traditional Kikli competition emerged as the highlight of the event, symbolizing unity, joy, and feminine camaraderie. A beautifully adorned swing added to the festive charm, evoking the nostalgic spirit of Teej — a festival that celebrates love, reunion, and the monsoon season, especially cherished by newly-wedded women visiting their parental homes.
The celebrations were further enriched by vibrant stalls offering mehndi, bangles, nail art, and a wide array of Punjabi delicacies, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and faculty alike and adding a burst of colour and flavour to the atmosphere.
President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, other esteemed members of the Managing Committee, and Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pooja Prashar appreciated the vibrant festivities and commended the college’s commitment to preserving and promoting Punjab’s cultural ethos.
