PCM S.D. College for Women Celebrates 150th Birth Anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda

The Department of History of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda with great enthusiasm and reverence. To mark the occasion, the department organized an Essay Writing Competition among the students of the History Department, highlighting the life, struggles  and contributions of the great tribal leader and freedom fighter.

Jalandhar, October 17, 2025: The Department of History of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated the 150th Birth Anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda with great enthusiasm and reverence. To mark the occasion, the department organized an Essay Writing Competition among the students of the History Department, highlighting the life, struggles  and contributions of the great tribal leader and freedom fighter.

Students showcased their knowledge and creativity through insightful essays on Birsa Munda’s role in India’s freedom struggle and his efforts for the upliftment of tribal communities.

In the competition, Guneet Kaur from B.A. B.Ed. Semester I bagged the first position, while Khushboo from B.A. Semester I secured the second position, and Mohena Sachdeva stood third.

The event was graced by Kawaljit Kaur and Dr. Renu Bala, who appreciated the participants for their sincere efforts and encouraged them to learn from the inspiring life of Birsa Munda.

President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, the other honourable members of the Managing Committee, and the Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar lauded the efforts of the Department of History for organizing this meaningful event and commended the students for keeping alive the legacy of the great tribal hero who dedicated his life to the nation and his people.
