Pawan Dewan appointed as Returning Officer for Nagpur Organisational Elections

Ludhiana, July 6, 2017: All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Madhusudhan Mistri, under the orders of the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, has appointed senior Congress leader and PPCC General Secretary Pawan Dewan as the Returning Officer for Nagpur, for the upcoming organisational elections.

Dewan has expressed his gratitude to Rahul Gandhi and Madhusudhan Mistri for entrusting him with the important responsibility of Returning Officer. Notably, the post of the Returning Officer for Nagpur Organisational elections assumes significance in wake of the fact that RSS has its roots in Nagpur and their Head Office is also there.

Following his appointment, Dewan has boarded flight for Nagpur on Thursday to attend the meeting to be held on July 7 under the leadership of former Maharashtra Chief Minister and president Maharashtra Congress Committee Ashok Chavan.

Dewan has said that as a Returning Officer, his duty would be to bring transparency among all members and conduct fair elections. The July 7 meeting would be attended by Rajasthan's Ex-MP Mahesh Joshi (appointed as Returning Officer for Maharashtra) along with all members of working committee, MPs, Ex MPs, MLA , Ex MLAs and all senior party leaders.
