PAU'S RAWE STUDENTS GAIN INSIGHT INTO VITAL ROLE OF COMMUNICATION CENTRE IN BRIDGING KNOWLEDGE GAPS

A cohort of 30 undergraduate students enrolled in the Rural Awareness Work Experience (RAWE) programme, specifically the EECM 411 Student Ready Programme, organized by the Department of Extension Education and Communication Management at the College of Community Science, PAU, visited the Communication Centre today. The objective was to delve into the multifaceted operations of the Communication Centre, an integral component of the university's infrastructure.

Ludhiana, February 8, 2024: A cohort of 30 undergraduate students enrolled in the Rural Awareness Work Experience (RAWE) programme, specifically the EECM 411 Student Ready Programme, organized by the Department of Extension Education and Communication Management at the College of Community Science, PAU, visited the Communication Centre today. The objective was to delve into the multifaceted operations of the Communication Centre, an integral component of the university's infrastructure.

The students were briefed about the Centre's focus on bridging the gap between scientists, farmers, and various stakeholders, thereby being instrumental in disseminating timely scientific information through diverse mediums such as press releases, radio/ TV programmes, and online platforms. Notably, the Centre has contributed significantly to printing and publishing over 250 titles in Punjabi and English. The students were provided comprehensive insights into the different units within the Communication Centre. These include the business section, editorial section, photography section, DTP section, and others, each playing a crucial role in facilitating effective communication and knowledge exchange among different colleges within the university.

Dr Sukhdeep Kaur and Dr Mandeep Sharma, Assistant Professors at the College of Community Science, PAU, and mentors of the RAWE programme, remarked that the visit to the Communication Centre has been enlightening for the students, providing them with a first-hand understanding of the vital functions this Centre performs in connecting academia with the broader community. Dr Mandeep Sharma added, "Experiential learning opportunities like these are invaluable for our students' professional development. Witnessing the practical applications of communication strategies in a real-world setting enhances their understanding and appreciation of the subject."
