PAU Scientist creates history, retains rank in world’s elite list of scientists

Ludhiana, July 6, 2023: 

Dr VP Sethi, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has created a history in the field of academics by retaining his name twice in the elite list of top 2% scientists in the world, working in various fields, as shown through the elaborate study released by world-renowned Stanford University, USA. In the last list released in 2019, Dr Sethi was ranked at 1,51,141. At that time, only 1,492 Indian scientists could make it to this elite list. In the latest report released by the Stanford University in 2023, Dr Sethi has been ranked at 1,62,227. This time only 2,273 Indian scientists could make it to this elite list. The list of the top scientists is created by the Stanford experts by considering the research impact and productivity on the basis of standard citation indicators, h-index, co-authorship and a composite indicator, reflecting the research performance over the last three decades (1993-2022). It is a matter of great pride for PAU that Dr Sethi was invited twice by the North Dakota University, USA in the years 2011 and 2012 as a Visiting Research Faculty and by the University of Guelph, Canada as a Guest Faculty in 2015. Dr Sethi has worked on several international projects and brought many high quality publications with foreign authors.

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU congratulated Dr Sethi for achieving this rare feat and recognition, and bringing laurels to the University in the international arena through his consistent efforts.

Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research, and Dr HS Sidhu, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAET), PAU also congratulated Dr Sethi for the rare distinction at the international level.

Dr Sethi expressed his gratitude towards higher authorities of PAU for providing all the necessary support from time to time and also thanked all his co-authors from various departments of COAET, PAU; North Dakota State University, USA and University of Guelph Canada, who worked as a multi-disciplinary team of experts to bring out new and innovative ideas of research in the areas of Greenhouse Engineering, Solar Energy, Paddy Straw Management, Soilless cultivation (Indigenous Hybrid Hydroponics (patented in the name of PAU), Aeroponics, Nutrient Film Technology) and produced highest quality research and review papers published and cited in the top most international journals during the last three decades.
