PAU Professor Dr V. P. Sethi Invited To Deliver A Seminar In Canadian Varsity

Ludhiana, June 18, 2015: Dr V. P. Sethi, Professor and Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been invited by the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada to deliver a seminar on the topic “Hydroponics and Greenhouse Technologies.” The seminar will be held from August 16-23, 2015. Apart from the seminar, discussions will be held on various research areas and possibility of collaboration between the University of Guelph and the Punjab Agricultural University. Dr Sethi is working in the areas of solar energy, greenhouse engineering and indigenous designs of improved hydroponics technologies. He has recently developed a hybrid hydroponics technology (soilless) for commercial greenhouse vegetable raising as well as urban rooftop based home gardening applications. PAU has also filed an Indian patent of this technology because of its innovation and improvements in technologies existing in Europe, USA and Canada. Earlier, in 2012, Dr Sethi was invited by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and the Department of Plant Sciences, North Dakota State University, USA as a visiting faculty for the collaborative research. Dr Sethi has published more than 70 research papers in the national and international journals of repute.

Dr B. S. Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU congratulated him for his achievement. Dr Balwinder Singh, Director of Research, PAU and Dr Jaskarn Singh Mahal, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology also lauded Dr Sethi for bringing laurels to the PAU at the international level.
