PAU Holds Training Course On IPM In Rabi Crops

Ludhiana, March 10, 2016: The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a training programme on “Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Rabi Crops” at village Abbuwal. A total of 27 farmers participated in this training, held under the guidance of Dr Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, Professor and Head, Department of Extension Education.

While interacting with farmers, Dr Beant Singh, Assistant Entomologist, discussed the harmful effects of various types of insects-pests infesting the rabi crops. He stressed on not to use the un-recommended pesticides and rather use integration of pest control methods for effective management of insects-pests.

Earlier welcoming the farmers, Dr Pankaj Kumar, Assistant Extension Specialist asked the farmers to adopt IPM practices to maximize their returns in various crops.

Dr Dharminder Singh, Assistant Extension Specialist, urged the farmers to develop a nutrition garden to meet their household food requirements. He further called upon the farmers to visit PAU Kisan Mela on March 18-19 to get latest information about improved farm technologies.
